DCU: "Reign of the Supermen"

Every hero falls at some point, even the great ones. What comes afterwards is often uncertain. Yet someone always seems to rise up from the ashes like a phoenix to carry on where those who came before left off, but will they be like the heroes we've lost, or become a greater threat? In the aftermath of Superman's death (played by Jerry O'Connell), Metropolis finds itself in the wake of not one but four new Supermen that have come to fill the late Superman's red boots. Steel (Cress Williams) a man named John Henry Irons who's life was once saved by Superman and gave him the ambition to make himself a superhero with his craftsman and engineering skills. Superboy (Cameron Monaghan) a cocky teenager who possesses Superman's abilities and even resembles the late hero and is supported by Lex Luthor (Rainn Wilson) to be the city's next savior. Cyborg Superman (Jerry O'Connell) part flesh, part robot who looks and sounds like Superman even claims to be to

Welcome readers to another one of MoVTie Critic's "Movie Versus". Two films, only one takes the most G.M.Stars. Today we have two horrific suspenseful thrillers that will make you wonder what's real and what lurks in the darkness of the human's soul. Up first we have "The Dark". Deep in a forest in a forgotten home long since left to turn to rubble, something lurks among the trees. When a ma"n we come to know as Josef Hofer (Karl Markovics) makes the mistake of stopping there, he meets a grisly faith at the hands of a scarred undead girl who calls herself Mina (Nadia Alexander). After killing him like an animal, she explores his car and discovers Josef wasn't alone and in the back lies a boy under a blanket who has been blinded and wears no pants. He begs this new female's voice to know where Josef is and that he has followed Josef's instructions. Mina shows mercy to the boy named Alex and guides him around the forest. As their jour

"Benchwarmers 2: Breaking Balls"

Once again someone has decided that we don't have enough sequels going straight to DVD out in the world and decided to try their luck with making a sequel to Rob Schneider's comical underdog film and come back swinging with "Benchwarmers 2: Breaking Balls" Ben McGrath (Chris Klein) is on top of his game. Playing in the big leagues and a beautiful wife carrying their first child and about to take his team to the championship. That's when it all goes south, literally. One pitch that hits him square in the balls takes him down along with his career. Now a decade later, he's divorced, mowing lawns for a jerk of a boss and has not played baseball since. The only two good things in his life are his son Jack (Liam Hughes) and that he's just earned a law degree, but this will not be a hit out of the park like he hopes. After getting hired at a prestigious law firm called Stenhouse, he finds out that his boss Mr. Stenhouse (Lochlyn Munro) only hired him to

"Tall Tales from the Magical Garden of Antoon Krings"

Many movies start with the basic concept of a story. Stephen King has had many his short stories turned into full-length motion pictures. Yet some come from more humble origins and often from other countries like The Smurfs, Paddington Bear and this tiny but mighty characters from "Tall Tales from the Magical Garden of Antoon Krings" This story follows the journey of a humble traveling performing cricket named Apollo (Justin Long) who only wants to spread joy in his insect world. His travels bring him to a little village about to celebrate its jubilee for their Queen Bee Marguerite (Kate Mara). His arrival is far from welcomed and Apollo finds himself feeling low until he hears the sound of a beautiful voice singing by the water at night and meets Marguerite who unbeknownst to him is the queen in disguise stepping away from her responsibilities and the two develop a fast friendship. Yet while things seem to be looking up, a plot to overthrow the queen and take control o

"Realms" versus "The Toybox"

Welcome to another one of MoVTie Critic's "Movie Versus". For those unfamiliar with this, this is where I put two films with similar themes (or sometimes actors or directors) in a head to head review to see which earns the most Green Mountain Stars (G.M.Stars). Today's theme is supernatural psychological horror. While these films are very different from one another, they each take the characters on a horrific thrill ride as supernatural forces play mind games with them and they must fight for their survival. So without further to do, let's get started. Up first is the dark creepy "Realms" starring Ryan Kelley from tv series "Teen Wolf". In this story, two American bank robbers Bobby and his girlfriend Jewel (Ryan Kelley and Madison McKinley) have just gotten through with a violent and lucrative hold-up in a Bangkok, Thailand bank and have taken three locals as hostages Winny (Praya Lundberg) her friend Earn (Air Phantila) and a random guy

"Here And Now"

Recently, my family learned that my Nain (Welsh for Grandmother) was diagnosed with cancer. While she is doing well and undergoing chemotherapy, a sudden life-changing event is enough to shake anyone up, especially when that someone is you. Vivienne (Sarah Jessica Parker) has been a successful singer for the last twenty-five years and is about to perform an anniversary piece that made her a name, the same day she gets the news that she has cancer. Following her through the day as the life-altering news sinks in, she starts to examine the aspects of her life from the relationship she has with her mother, to taking steps to reconnecting with her ex-husband and her teenage daughter who have taken second to her career for a long time. Life's meaning comes into light in the hours before her first appointment to begin treatment and what she must do with the time she has left in order to leave behind more than just a musical legacy. Realistically heart-wrenching. Sarah Jessica Par

"American Renegades"

They say that history tells us the story of the past, but not everything is always found in a textbook. Secrets of the past are being uncovered all the time, like buried treasure. Yet for one Navy SEAL team, this secret of the past is a treasure hunt. After seeing a glimpse of an event in 1944 of a village under siege by Nazis, we witness one boy's bravery as he steals a gold brick that the Nazis have stolen and are storing in the villages bank, and the tragedy that befalls that village as the locals are killed and the Nazis are engulfed by water when Allies destroy the dam wiping them out leaving the boy that ran off with a gold brick and hid it the only survivor of his now flooded home. Fast forward to Sarajevo in 1995, we find members of a Navy SEAL team up against a modern day tyrant named Petrovic (Clemens Schick) who becomes wrathful after an extraction of a general goes south and the SEALS have to make a daring escape. Despite their unorthodox, yet successful escape,
