"American Renegades"

They say that history tells us the story of the past, but not everything is always found in a textbook. Secrets of the past are being uncovered all the time, like buried treasure. Yet for one Navy SEAL team, this secret of the past is a treasure hunt.

After seeing a glimpse of an event in 1944 of a village under siege by Nazis, we witness one boy's bravery as he steals a gold brick that the Nazis have stolen and are storing in the villages bank, and the tragedy that befalls that village as the locals are killed and the Nazis are engulfed by water when Allies destroy the dam wiping them out leaving the boy that ran off with a gold brick and hid it the only survivor of his now flooded home.
Fast forward to Sarajevo in 1995, we find members of a Navy SEAL team up against a modern day tyrant named Petrovic (Clemens Schick) who becomes wrathful after an extraction of a general goes south and the SEALS have to make a daring escape.
Despite their unorthodox, yet successful escape, the SEALS don't think about it twice and continue their tour as normal. For team member Stanton Baker (Charlie Bewley) this means carrying on a secret relationship with local waitress Lara Simic (Sylvia Hoeks) but when thugs break into her house while he's there and team leader Matt Barnes (Sullivan Stapleton) comes to their aid, the truth comes out that there's more going on than just a secret relationship. Lara tells them that one of the thugs is her brother Milenko (Karim Cherif) who was after a golden brick that her grandfather had hidden as a boy during the war before his village was flooded and that she had dove down and found it just where he said it would be and that there was far more still below.
With the help of their fellow teammates Ben Moran (Joshua Henry), Kurt Duffy (Diarmaid Murtagh) and Jack Porter (Dimitri Leonidas), the group makes secret plans to dive below, find the bank where the gold is stored and bring it back to the surface, but the hopes of becoming rich and in Lara's case helping her struggling people get complicated when Petrovic tracks the SEALS down with his own hopes, for revenge.

Intriguing and full of risky adventure. A modern day treasure hunt played out with nail-biting suspense. With a dose of comedy and romance added to the mix, it makes this film a pleasure to watch and as good as gold, four G.M.Stars that is. So if you're looking for an exciting film you may not have heard of before, this one is a gem that not to be overlooked.
