"Here And Now"

Recently, my family learned that my Nain (Welsh for Grandmother) was diagnosed with cancer. While she is doing well and undergoing chemotherapy, a sudden life-changing event is enough to shake anyone up, especially when that someone is you.

Vivienne (Sarah Jessica Parker) has been a successful singer for the last twenty-five years and is about to perform an anniversary piece that made her a name, the same day she gets the news that she has cancer. Following her through the day as the life-altering news sinks in, she starts to examine the aspects of her life from the relationship she has with her mother, to taking steps to reconnecting with her ex-husband and her teenage daughter who have taken second to her career for a long time. Life's meaning comes into light in the hours before her first appointment to begin treatment and what she must do with the time she has left in order to leave behind more than just a musical legacy.

Realistically heart-wrenching. Sarah Jessica Parker's performance is in prime performance with her portrayal of the emotional roller coaster that comes with learning your time is limited and going through stages of grief while maintaining composure for those closest to her. A dramatically relatable piece for all who have been there with someone or those who have been fortunate to have gone on the journey and come out the other side. You will be captivated by Vivienne's day while I've been compelled to give five G.M.Stars.
