"Tall Tales from the Magical Garden of Antoon Krings"

Many movies start with the basic concept of a story. Stephen King has had many his short stories turned into full-length motion pictures. Yet some come from more humble origins and often from other countries like The Smurfs, Paddington Bear and this tiny but mighty characters from "Tall Tales from the Magical Garden of Antoon Krings"

This story follows the journey of a humble traveling performing cricket named Apollo (Justin Long) who only wants to spread joy in his insect world. His travels bring him to a little village about to celebrate its jubilee for their Queen Bee Marguerite (Kate Mara). His arrival is far from welcomed and Apollo finds himself feeling low until he hears the sound of a beautiful voice singing by the water at night and meets Marguerite who unbeknownst to him is the queen in disguise stepping away from her responsibilities and the two develop a fast friendship. Yet while things seem to be looking up, a plot to overthrow the queen and take control of this village by the queen's cousin Wendy Wasp (Laurie Hymes) is playing out with Apollo becoming an unknowing accomplice to the plan. With the queen captured and Apollo left to take the fall, Wendy waste no time moving in, but with the help of a few friends Betty Bee (Nathalie Gorham), Benny (Jason Griffith) and Larry Louse (Marc Thompson) and a few unlikely allies, they will band together to save Apollo and Queen Marguerite and take back the kingdom before the intruding wasps can destroy everything they love.

Sweet and charming. This childhood tale can show you don't have to come from much to become the hero of your story. With a few musical numbers and colorful characters presented in well-designed computer graphics, it will make your family smile and become a favorite amongst the household and buzzes off with three G.M.Stars making this film in this critic's opinion to be as sweet as honey.
