"Cruella"

They say evil isn't born, it's made. Well, what one's definition of evil is can have an entirely different meaning when you get to the root of it. Much like Disney gave us the privilege of seeing Maleficent's side of the story with Angelina Jolie's two films, we are given a chance to see story from another "Disney Villain" and how she made the scene...and making it awfully fabulous.

Giving her story from her early days, Cruella (Emma Stone) tells of her life as Estella (portrayed mostly by Tipper Selfert-Cleveland) and how from a young age she stood out from her hair, her sense of style and how she tried to embrace the world with the world not always embracing her.

Following a series of tragic events, Estella finds herself in orphaned and alone in London until she encounters young thieves Jasper and Horace (Ziggy Gardner and Joseph MacDonald) and begins her life of thievery.

As young adults, Estella, Jasper, (Joel Fry) and Horace (Paul Walter Hauser) have become masters at the art of thievery, with Estella's talented skills of sewing outfits playing a major role, yet Estella still aspires for her dreams as a fashion designer leading her to take a job at a department store and after an act of rebellion, she attracts the eye of famous fashion icon know as The Baroness (Emma Thompson) and is whisked into the world of high end fashion.

While living the dream means putting up of the The Baroness's cruel nature, Estella takes it in stride until she learns that The Baroness is linked to her tragic past and decides that she must take a stand against her idol and become Cruella, the mysterious and revolutionary fashion icon making statements and taking London's interest by storm, but in the quest for revenge and making dreams reality it becomes a question of identity. With every turn and and every stitch, Estella seems to fade as Cruella comes into her own and it will come down to who's character will win out over The Baroness or if she will come out as something worse.

Stunningly and wickedly fantastic. Disney has managed to create sympathy for the De Vil, pun intended. Cruella De Vil has been considered by many to be one of the most wicked Disney Villains ever portrayed, yet we have never been given much insight as to how she came to be the woman behind that iconic song, (and let's face it, not many Disney Villains get a song all about them). Now thanks to the talents of Emma Watson giving one of her best and most dramatic performances, you see her in a new light in how Cruella might not be the Devil we've been led to believe. This film's talent is only matched with its incredible visual effects and jaw-dropping fashion that will make you want to be on the cutting edge of the fashion trends its sure to inspire. Much like it has inspired me to give it my high end rating of five G.M.Stars for its emotionally thrilling performance.
