"Bernie the Dolphin 2"

We hear so much going on with the ocean between the amount of plastic building up to the animals that are affected from mistakenly consuming our garbage believing it to be edible that we don't always get to see these animals at their best and what they're capable of. Yet thanks to those who are dedicated to changing that and films that remind us how important they are, we are educated along with being entertained.

Bernie is back in a new full-length feature film and so are his human friends Kevin and Holly Ryan (Logan Allen and Lola Sultan) who are now junior volunteers of the marine wildlife rescue that helped Bernie in the last film and are still featuring him and his pod on their webpage. Yet just as Bernie's pod is coming back to the area, another familiar face has returned, Winston Mills (Kevin Sorbo).

Out on parole, Winston and the kids along with their father Bob Ryan (Patrick Muldoon) find themselves being forced to work together when Winston is assigned to custodian work at the marina as part of his parole. At first Winston strives to do his time and is even finding a connection with an anti-social dolphin named Rascal that is being treated there. Yet an old associate Devin Cruz (Josué Guiterrez) is threatening to make sure Winston goes back to jail if he doesn't help him in his plot to capture Bernie. Caught between his desire to stay free and his newly developed trust he has built with the kids and the dolphin, Winston must choose whether to do right by him or the right thing for others.

A fun film to dive right into. While it doesn't quite pack the punch as the first one did with its comedic kid adventure, it delivers a lesson in redemption and a passion for protecting wildlife that is good to share with kids of all ages. With some fun humor and a variety of animals featured this film can splash away with three G.M.Stars for its simple, yet sweet story.
