"A Cinderella Story: Christmas Wish"

One thing people can't seem to get enough of around the holidays is a Christmas movie. One with lots of holiday cheer, life lessons, a good romance and perhaps a little music. This next installment to the Cinderella Story franchise has it all along with two former Disney Channel stars and dresses even Cinderella would want to wear to the ball.

Kat Decker (Laura Marano) has dreams of songwriting and performing her pieces for the world to hear, but her dreams keep getting put down by three things, her stepsisters Joy and Grace (Lillian Doucet-Roche and Chanelle Peloso) and her wicked stepmother Deidre (Johannah Newmarch) who love nothing more than to humiliate Kat in front of the rich kids like Dominic Wintergarden (Gregg Sulkin), treat her like their servant and live off the inheritance that Kat's late father left behind that Deidre has control over until Kat is eighteen.

Until then, Kat works a Christmas lot as a singing and dancing elf with her best friend Isla (Isabella Gomez) and is growing a fast friendship with the new Santa "Nick" who unbeknownst to her is Dominic in costume working at the family business. As their friendship starts to show signs of becoming something more, Kat wonders if who she is without the wig and pointed ears is someone "Nick" will like and if she can keep her stepmothers and stepsisters from ruining a good thing especially with the impending Wintergarden Christmas ball as their chance to meet each other face to face.

While I am skeptical of a franchise that continues to push out movies and usually milks it past the expiration date, this addition to the franchise was a charming delight. The separation of class often presented in this classic fairytale was well touched on and how you must be wary of those who only see money and power and not what is underneath while playing on the feel good holiday movie could be worthy of Hallmark's standards. While you don't escape the slightly cheesy song and dance number that ignites the romance, you do get a few songs worthy of a Christmas playlist that make this movie an instant Christmas classic and one that will shine bright with four G.M.Stars for their Christmas tree this year.
