"The Possession of Hannah Grace"

Since "The Exorcist" cinema and those intrigued by the supernatural have wondered if there are things in the dark that can take control of our physical body and make us the unwitting passengers of their evil doings with no way to fight back except by those on the outside and hope that an act of God can free us. Many of us will fortunately only see this sort of horror in that of films and television and never have to live through the nightmare, or what comes after.

Megan Reed (Shay Mitchell, Pretty Little Liars) is working on putting the pieces of her life back together after an incident while she was on the police force occurred resulting in a breakdown and having to give up her badge. Now taking on a job as a night shift worker at the morgue as a way to start fresh, she doesn't expect anything too out of the ordinary until the cadaver of a young woman (Kirby Johnson) later to be identified as Hannah Grace is brought in.

At first glance, it looks as though the body has been put through the ringer being very thin, covered in cuts, bruises and burns and possibly no way this girl could have survived, yet as the evening goes on Megan begins to notice there might be signs of the impossible, that the body may not be dead. As Megan begins to question her sanity and has her boyfriend/police officer Andrew Kurtz (Grey Damon) dig more into the cadaver's background to know what happened to her, she begins to notice that the body appears to be slowly healing itself and appearing and disappearing when Megan is alone and most vulnerable. Whether she is losing her mind or her worst fears are being realized that there an evil force at work, Megan knows that she must fight to survive the night or fall victim to the demons at hand.

Frighteningly suspenseful. This film is a nail-biting experience that times its frights out to a T. While they keep it to a small cast, it allows you to develop a relationship with the characters giving more of an impact should they fall victim to a gruesome death. Another aspect that is a great highlight to this film was the portrayal by Kirby Johnson and the special effects make-up team. Her in-human like movements along with the way they captured burnt flesh made her the thing of nightmares giving this film a ranking of four G.M.Stars.
