"Justice League vs. The Fatal Five" versus "Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles"

Welcome to another one of MoVTie Critic's "Movie Versus". For first time readers this is where I take two movies with similar themes, genres or actors and put the films head to head to duke it out for the most Green Mountain Stars (G.M.Stars). Today we have two DC Comic films that will make the inner geek in you gush with delight.

Up first is "Justice League vs. The Fatal Five" In this story we find time traveling and new allies and enemies when a hero from the future Starboy (Elyes Gabel) travels into the past to our present day Justice League in the hopes of stopping members of a group called The Fatal Five consisting of Tharok (Peter Jessop), Emerald Empress (Sumalee Montano), Validus (Bruce Timm), Mano (Philip Anthony-Rodriguez) and The Persuader (Matthew Yang King) from going after the newest Green Lantern to join the Justice League Jessica Cruz (Diane Guerrero) a young woman who battles psychological problems linked to a traumatizing event but who has the heart and a potential future to be one of the greatest heroes.
With help from Superman (George Newbern) Batman (Kevin Conroy) Wonder Woman (Susan Eisenberg) and new recruit Miss Martian (Daniela Bobadilla) they will take on one of their greatest threats to help preserve the past in order to save the Justice League's future.

Next we have an unlikely, but welcomed crossover in which Batman comes face to face with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Finding the four brothers Leonardo (Eric Bauza) Donatello (Baron Vaughn), Raphael (Darren Criss) and Michelangelo (Kyle Mooney) in Gotham City in pursuit of The Shredder (Andrew Kishino), they come face to face with The Batman (Troy Baker) believing they're involved with several thefts of industrial machinery from different companies including Wayne Enterprise. Realizing they're on the same side, the group forms an alliance to stop the Shredder and his partner Ra's al Ghul (Cas Anvar) from taking the ooze that made the turtles the turtles and creating more mutants with a blend of a dangerous chemical from one of Batman's old foes and making them psychopathic monsters that would destroy Gotham and possible the world. Joined by Robin (Ben Giroux) and Batgirl (Rachel Bloom) the must take on Gotham's greatest villains with a twist in a race against time to stop Gotham from becoming ground zero from the mutant epidemic.

Two action-packed films, but only one can reach for all the stars. "Justice League vs. The Fatal Five" had just about all you could ask for in a superhero movie, multiple characters both classic and ones rarely featured taking on a powerful threat never featured in movies, showing those struggling with mental illness overcoming their personal demons to do what needed to be done and an emotional moment that demonstrated great courage and heart, every bit of a real hero. Taking on real life issues and making relatable characters that shows people that they can defy the stigma and be exceptional earns this film four and a half G.M.Stars

When it came to this hero crossover in "Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle" it was a cowabunga experience. A crossover that has never been featured outside the comics that was long overdue. While it featured many of the famed characters from both their respective universes including a rare feature of Ra's al Ghul there were a few things not featured such as Shredder's famous mutant henchmen and one that was Baxter Stockman that you didn't get an explanation for (watch to find out what he's turned into). Yet despite what it lacked, it made up for the intense and extreme face offs of both teams of heroes along with a battle royal in Arkham that had a unique mutant twist that will be one to remember. So order a pizza and enjoy this film I've chosen to award four G.M.Stars to making it a close second to the winner of this round of "Movie Verses"
No matter your preference, I recommend both for your enjoyment.
