"Avengers: Endgame"

Well it's finally here. The conclusion to the Avengers and possibly the dawn of a new era of Marvel films along with some farewells. Now if you haven't been fortunate enough to see this film opening week I suggest a serious reader discretion for there will be a few facts given away with borderline spoiler. Anyway, last Avenger film got a special six shining star, so we'll see how this measures up.

Starting off less than a month after Thanos (Josh Brolin) snaps his fingers taking out half the universe, we find the remaining Avengers in a place many of them have never been before, in the shadow of defeat. Determined not to take the loss lying down and having a new ally joining them and bringing Tony home in the form of Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) (who those who saw the post credit scene in her movie know that Nick Fury's (Samuel L. Jackson) beeper did reach her before he vanished.) Tracking down Thanos on an isolated planet, they learn that he did the unthinkable, he destroyed the stones leaving them no way to reverse what has been done.
Fast forward five years later in the year 2023, we find the Avengers now in very different places, Tony/Ironman (Robert Downey Jr. and Pepper (Gwyneth Paltrow) are now married with a child living a quiet existence, Steve/Captain America (Chris Evans) runs a support group for those struggling with the loss of loved ones, Clint/Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) has gone vigilante with the loss of his family, and Natasha/Black Widow is trying to keep the broken pieces of what's left of the Avengers together. It is becoming clear after all this time that there may never be any way to reverse what Thanos has done and accepting what is doesn't feel like an option and it will take a miracle to bring about the once chance that Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) had foretold in the last Avengers film before vanishing.
By chance, Scott Lang/Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) is transported back from the Quantum Realm where he has been floating around for five years with no idea what has happened or how much time has passed. Given the harsh reality of the situation, he reaches out to the Avengers with the idea of how time in the Quantum Realm works differently than on Earth and that by tapping into that, they can go back to reverse what has been done. Taking the idea as a Hail Mary shot, they gather the Avengers left including Bruce/Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) who is now the best of both in Professor Hulk and Thor (Chris Hemsworth) who has not taken the loss of his world or the loss against Thanos well and is a shell of his former self. Yet despite the changes, they agree to give this one last shot in the hopes of gaining the Infinity Stones before Thanos and using them to bring back those who've been lost. It is a race against time all leading up to a final stand for the fate of the Universe, one that will determine whether the Avengers will ever assemble again.

There was a lot of expectation to this film and many rumors swirling around as to who will return and who will fall, who will make an appearance and if this is truly the end. While I can't give anymore away than I already have for those who are reading this and not watching the movie first, I will say that anything you think is going to happen, think again. This film is full of unexpected surprises, an all-star cast with returns from those we believed we'd never see again and no holding back on beloved characters making the ultimate sacrifice. There is no question that this film has lived up to the hype and pulled out all the stops to bring this epic series an unbelievable final chapter with the hope of prequels and spin-offs to potentially come. It is one that will make you cheer, cry and touch your heart before they can even play the final scene. It is without a doubt going to be one of the most amazing film climaxes in a series that is going to be referred to for decades to come. So with all that said, where does it rate with me you ask? Well, I don't do this for just any film, I have decided my regular G.M.Stars are not enough and have decided for the first time to give what I like to call Shining Green Mountain Stars, five of them to be exact which equals to around ten Green Mountain Stars, the highest rating I've ever given. While some might see this as bias because I'm a fan, I only give this because a film such as this doesn't come around very often and I hope that it won't be the last to get my shining stars. So much like this film, I leave you with my final words and a glimmer of hope that it won't be the last we will see.
