"Kim Possible"

Hello again movie fans. Forgive my absence as I was helping spread some love this past Valentine's Day helping out the wonderful people at Vermont Teddy Bear get out their orders on time. Anyway, I've come back with a couple of recent films that have been released this past week. One in particular takes me back to my childhood a little with a live-action twist, I'm talking of course about the new DCOM that premiered last Friday night, Kim Possible. For those of you who may remember the animated series, Kim Possible was a teenage crime fighter/cheerleader that seemed to do the impossible and was a strong female role model for many girls. Along with her bestfriend/clumsy sidekick Ron Stoppable and his pet naked mole rat Rufus, the three take down the baddies while navigating high school together. Now its been brought back for a new generation and has a few new touches.

Kim Possible (Sadie Stanley) is a confident teenage girl who's not afraid to strive and do the impossible who in her spare time fights bad guys trying to take over the world, yet no amount of martial arts can prepare her for her biggest mission yet, high school.
Even with her best friend Ron Stoppable (Sean Giambrone) by her side and some tech assistance from computer kid genius Wade (Isaac Ryan Brown), Kim finds that high school can seem somewhat impossible even for a Possible with a tough to please teacher like Mr. Barkin (Michael P. Northey) breathing down their necks with every little mistake and frenemy Bonnie Rockwaller (Erika Tham) team captain of the soccer team keeping Kim off the team. It all seems discouraging until she meets Athena (Ciara Riley Wilson) who is a huge Kim Possible fan with a few moves of her own and the two become fast friends.
The two hit it off so well that she invites Athena to go on their next mission which happens to be Kim's arch nemesis Dr. Drakken (Todd Stashwick) and his henchwoman Shego (Taylor Ortega) and is surprised to find Athena may just be a formable as her, if not better. It becomes Kim's biggest challenge to find who she is and where she fits in now and if anything really is possible for a Possible and she will have to find it fast in order to stop Drakken's master plan for what he has in store for her next.

There is no question that this is the sitch (situation for you non-Kim fans) that you'll want to find yourselves in. While they've gotten rid of the classic handheld Kimmunicator in exchange for a sporty pendant and that it doesn't feature all the memorable characters (at least for this film) it stays true to the memorable series that had so much popularity that it was petitioned to have one final season and I have no doubt that fans will be demanding a sequel or even a spin-off series after this. And if you're wondering if Rufus makes an appearance, I'm pleased to tell you Nancy Cartwright does reprise her role and is accompanied by cameos from Christy Carlson Romano the original voice of Kim Possible (no spoilers as to where she shows up). So not the drama, this gets a four and a half G.M.Stars rating from me, with the hopes they'll get the remaining half when I hear about the next mission.
