"The Farm"

In a world where we try to be so careful what we eat and where our food comes from, we don't always care to know how it gets from the animal to the table and how it gets there can be a frightening concept.

Nora (Nora Yessayan) and Alec (Alec Gaylord) are a couple looking to get away for a quiet romantic getaway. Stopping for the night at a rural B&B with a loner landlord (Ken Volok), they have not a care in the world, until the next morning. Finding themselves in separate cages with no idea where the other one is or where or how they came to be there. Staffed by farmhands wearing animals mask and saying not a word, they find they are not the only ones being imprisoned there and that the unfortunate people there are being treated like livestock, used for the meat and milk with no acknowledgement of the fact they're human beings just like them. It soon becomes clear to Nora that this cult-like community has no good intentions for them and that she must find Alec and escape before they become the next items on the menu.

Deranged and horrifically disturbing. This film is enough to drive you to a vegan lifestyle within the first half hour. The director was not shy about projecting psychologically upsetting images of the treatment of the human livestock and had no problem subjecting the audience to the gore and frightening concept that such a place and people could exist. While the film left me disgusted in its portrayal of the treatment of any form of livestock since today's process tries to do it as humanely as possible, its terror succeeded at giving me chills which is the ultimate goal and earns three G.M.Stars for its performance. I wouldn't recommend this for those sensitive to horror movies, but for the hardcore fan, take a chance, just don't say I didn't warn you.
