"Behind the Walls" (2018)

Moving into a new home is never an easy thing. Many people have mixed emotions about it, especially if they've come there in hopes of finding something better than what they left behind. Yet when you put all your hopes in dreams into a two story four wall structure, you may find that the house may have its own ideas for you.

Kathy Harper (Vanessa Angel) is putting all her hopes into this old house that she and her three children Michael (Hutch Dano), a young twenty-something who's torn between being there for his family and continuing his education and the young twins Karrie and Derry (Taylor Autumn Bertman and Mason Mahay) who are kids trying to handle the changes with moving and understanding why their father Michael Harper Sr. (Joseph Gilbert) is gone.
While Kathy tries to move on from the abusive marriage, the family soon starts to realize that instead of escaping a bad situation, they may have very well made a home in one. The house starts to show signs that it has a sinister nature and that what it wants most from them is to make this house their home, forever.

Dark and creepy. This film brings a whole new meaning to the phrase, "There's no place like home". By the end, you will be grateful that this house isn't your home when you see what it has in store for its new occupants and what it is willing to do to keep them. Vanessa Angel plays the strong, yet vulnerable mother Kathy well capturing the difficulties of starting over with your family can be as well as the PTSD that comes along with leaving a bad relationship and what it leaves you with, and young Hutch Dano delivers an excellent performance as Michael who is trying to find his place in life while showing a tremendous amount of loyalty and responsibility to his family. While this film leaves a bit of mystery to the audience, it had no problem earning four G.M.Stars and leaving this movie lover wanting more.
