"MInutes to Midnight"

A belated Merry Christmas and an early Happy New Year to all. For those of you reading my post still I'm glad you've been patient with me as I finished up my seasonal job. Trying to juggle the two was almost impossible so blogging sadly had to take a back seat, but I'm back for more regular post now and I hope you're still looking for the unheard titles at the box or your local stores and being brave enough to pick them out. Since we are approaching the new year, I decided this film would be perfect to talk about since it involves those looking forward to ringing in the new year, but may not survive to see it.

In a small town, seven friends are looking forward to drinking and watching the ball drop together and make the decision to party at Chloe's (Dominique Swain) boss's isolated cabin without Mr. Walter's (William Baldwin) knowledge as a terrible storm is moving into the region. As the gang gets their party on, a backpacker Travis Crenna (John Hennigan) arrives and explains that he is looking for his sister Emily (Viva Bianca) who went missing in the area along with her fiancé several days ago and have not been heard of. As the storm rolls in, the party-goers begin to realize there is something of a sinister nature going on and that they may very well be in danger of not living to see the new year, or even live through the night.

An intertwining tale of fright and gore. This film reflects the dangers of now heeding warnings when given and how the past can come back with a vengeance. While the plot keeps you interested, the slashers scenes are not as impressive as to be expected, but are made up for in their clever costuming making them look terrifying before they strike and their plot twist origins that make them both tragic and frightening characters. While it might not impress the hard-core slasher fan, it will give a few screams for those brave enough to watch as they count down the minutes to midnight earning it a three and a half Green Mountain Stars (G.M.Stars) here at MoVTie Critic.

⭐⭐⭐½
