"UFO" versus "Occupation"

It's time once again for one of Mo VT ie Critic's "Movie Verses". For those who don't know what that is, its when I take two movies with similar themes and have them go head to head for the best rating of my Green Mountain Stars (G.M.Stars) five being the best and one being the worst. So without further to do, the theme to day is as you probably guessed alien movies where other lifeforms have come to our planet and how the humans deal with this.

Up first is "UFO", this dramatic suspense film focuses on college student Derek (Alex Sharp) who is gifted with exceptional math skills and his pursuit to use them after a U.F.O sighting at an airport by several people has him fascinated as to the real story no one is telling and to find out if they will return. Becoming obsessed with the data and showing neglect to his friends Natalie (Ella Purnell) and Lee (Benjamin Beatty), Derek becomes convinced that there is a formula that can pinpoint where they will show up next. With the assistance of his professor Hendricks (Gillian Anderson), Derek goes to any links to find the answers to his equation, but the end result may not be anything he ever expected.

Next we have an action-packed film on when the U.F.O. not only comes, but begins to take over in this dramatic action thriller "Occupation". When hostile aliens attack a small town in Australia, humans like Matt Simmons (Dan Ewing) his girlfriend Amelia Chambers (Stephany Jacobsen) their friends Jackson (Charles Terrier) and his girlfriend Vanessa (Rhiannon Fish) and others they join like Peter Bartlett (Temuera Morrison) his daughter Bella (Izzy Stevens) and local homeless artist Dennis (Zachary Garred) in a fight for survival as they try to keep two steps ahead of the invaders that are taking humans prisoner as slaves and experiments and how they must take on the task of trying to rebuild a new society in the ruins while finding a way to fight for humanity's survival. As the months go by, it becomes clear life will never return to the way it was and that there is more to these invaders than meets the eye. With a final showdown looming, the last hope for humanity will take all they have left to either end the war, or find a path to peace.

Two exciting sci-fi films, only one can take the best rating. With "UFO", you get a realistic scenario of what one might do if something came to our world and mysteriously disappeared as it had arrived. With inquisitive minds to find a link to a pattern and if it could be tracked along with the obsessive impact it would take on the individual and their day to day life. While nothing is really ever seen as far as alien lifeforms, it gives a relatable plot that many have claimed to experience and what might come after. Yet while it delivered a interesting tale, it left more questions than answers only coming away with three G.M.Stars in the race for the best.

⭐⭐⭐

"Occupation" on the other hand is everything and more you would expect from an alien invasion movie, hostile monster-like creatures that we piece clues together to understand them and why they're here, an apocalyptic society that rebuilds from the ruins left with citizens turned mercenaries in their efforts to preserve humankind and an epic showdown with a final blow you out of the water explosion to round it out with a surprising turning point that stands out from other alien invasion films. A diverse cast of characters and excellent costume and make-up design and special effects puts this film in the lead with five G.M.Stars making it one film you'll want to invade your living room.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

"UFO" and "Occupation" are both available at Redbox and where movies are sold/streamed.
