"The House with a Clock in Its Walls"

Haunted greetings to all. Its two days before Halloween and the magical and frightening films are at an all time high on television and in theaters. The latest Halloween with Jamie Lee Curtis and a terrifying zombie film hitting theaters just after Halloween not to mention two classic films "Hocus Pocus" and "The Nightmare Before Christmas" celebrating their 25th anniversaries this year. Also this year, we welcome two films fit for this spooky season starring Jack Black, the first being the sequel to "Goosebumps" and this based of a novel piece "The House with a Clock in Its Walls"

Taking place in 1955, Lewis Barnavelt (Owen Vaccaro) is dealing with the tragic loss of his parents and is on his way to go live with his Uncle Johnathan (Jack Black) who he has never met and only knows that he left home when his mother was young and never came back. Arriving at this impressive yet strange house, there seems to be things going on that Johnathan and his friend Florence Zimmerman (Cate Blanchett) are trying to hide from Lewis. It isn't long after he arrives that Lewis stumbles onto the fact that Johnathan is a warlock (male witch to those who don't know), Florence is a witch and the house itself is charmed with stained glass windows that move and change, a chair that has a life of its own and a strange ticking sound that Lewis hears late at night. In this newfound knowledge, Lewis is eager to learn magic and become a warlock, but with learning the craft Lewis will soon learn that there is a dark side and things that should not be learned which will result in unleashing dark forces determined on destroying all that there is.

Magically intriguing and beautifully casted. Blanchett and Black deliver a spectacular performance with their unlikely friendship full of puns and slams that will keep you laughing while young Vaccaro takes on the challenge of the awkward boy turned confident warlock in training in the character of Lewis Barnavelt and acting off two great performers and wild special effects brining the magic of this story to life on the screen and earning five out of five G.M.Stars. One only hopes that the magic will return with a sequel that is equally magical.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

"The House with the Clock in Its Walls" is currently only in theaters.
