"The Incantation"

When it comes to what you inherit from your family, many of us don't mind what we end up with. Whether it's the family blue eyes on your mother's side or a '68 Ford Mustang, they're usually not so bad, at least for most of us. Some people though inherit things that you wouldn't wish on your worst enemy. You might even say, their family is cursed.

Lucy Bellerose (Sam Valentine) is a young twenty-something who just inherited her late distant Uncle's magnificent mansion estate and all that comes with it. From the time she arrives, she meets odd characters like The Vicar of Borley (Jude S. Walko) who manages the estate's affairs and a social lacking maid Mary (Beatrice Orro) and a strange salesman who arrives and seems to hang around despite the rule of uninvited guest named Abel Baddon (Dean Cain). Her only relief outside all of the strangeness is a local gravedigger named Jean-Pierre "JP" for short (Dylan Kellogg) who explains to Lucy that the family and grounds have a long history of darkness and seem to thrive on the suffering of its people.
As Lucy digs deeper into the darkness of her family's background, she soon finds herself in a fight for control over her destiny, but she may come to find that some things you can't fight and that the power it holds over you will have its way.

Dreary acting that doesn't hold up to the dark nature of the story. This was a film that left a lot of questions on top of over-dramatic and stiff performances by many of the cast, with only the exceptions of Sam Valentine playing the confused Lucy Bellerose who shows her emotion as she is slowly pushed to the edge, Dylan Kellogg as the heroic, but in over his head J.P. and Dean Cain with a rare glimpse of his dark side. Rating three G.M.Stars on my Green Mountain Star scale, it's a film worth a glimpse for the occult film enthusiast, but may be a disappointment for the horror fan looking for action and gore. So will it be your destiny to watch? That's something I leave up to you.
