"Alien Showdown: The Day The Old West Stood Still"

Throughout history, man has looked to the skies and wondered if we are alone in the universe. Since Roswell, we've come to believe that it may be a possibility and have written books and movies as to what might happen should our two worlds meet. Yet there have been few that have spanned the factor of time.

In 1854, the golden age of the old west, Reinhard (Robert Amstler) a good-hearted cowboy who goes out of his way to steal back a stolen crucifix to a town's church finds a bounty on his head by the man who stole it and the lawless marshal and his goons out to collect it, but they find more than they bargain for when a mysterious object crash lands in the woods. As the chase to get Reinhard engages, Reinhard finds himself becoming the unlikely hero against a monstrous alien invader (also played by Robert Amstler). With the given knowledge from a grey alien (voice of Anthony Sant'Anselmo) that is Earth's last ally, he must find a way to protect Earth from a potential invasion.

Across the span of time in present day, another human named Marina (Nadia Lafranconi) a scientist is recruited by Professor Kelly (John J. Welsh) to come out to the wilderness and study a device not of this world and finds herself picking up where Reinhard left off. Watching as the two stories play out with only time dividing them, both of them will come together to save the world.

A story well told only being held back by low budget cost. While the story was intriguing it lacked many of today's perfected techniques we see in blockbusters today. This clearly low-budget independent film did the best with what they had with their evil alien costume straight out of an episode of Face Off and puppetry not worthy of The Muppets. The only thing that made up for it was some well choreographed fight scenes and an example of selflessness only seen in true heroes. That being said, I can only give this a two and a half on the G.M.Star scale. Take it to Michael Bay, and some more plot twist and CGI and this story can have itself a blockbuster premiere.

⭐⭐½
