"Turtle Tale" vs. "Paws P.I."

Welcome to another "Movie Verses" where here at MoVTie Critic two films with similar themes go head to head to see who will come away with the top rating on the Green Mountain Stars scale. I was fortunate enough to come across a double feature at Redbox recently and saw this as the perfect opportunity. So without further to do, let's get started.

Up first is "Turtle Tale" which you would think would center around turtles and their adventures. Yes there are talking turtles, but they play a minor role around the story happening around them. Calvin (Noah Schnacky) is a fifteen year old with aspiring dreams of becoming a professional skater, but his life takes a dramatic turn after he learns one of his friends cheated for him in a skate off without his knowledge which causes him to lash out in anger and break the car window belonging to the parents of young Kyle (Isaiah McCaffrey) who recently moved to Florida with his family. Sentenced to community service at the local wildlife sanctuary where they're famous for their turtles and wild birds of prey, he meets ranger Sarah (Mary Rachel Dudley) and her niece Marlie (Lily Cardone) who open Calvin's eyes to the idea that there are things bigger than him and that there's more to life than being a skateboarder and when an incident occurs at the sanctuary, it will be up to them to stand strong and make difficult choices to bring it all back together.

Up next we have a K-9 sleuth out to save the day in "Paws P.I." The story centers around a young skater named Peter Williams (Neal Genys) and his dog Jackson (Jon Lovitz). Having lost their wife and mother a year ago, his father Connor (Eddie Mills) a private investigator has been struggling. Until a potential case comes in. Katherine Worthington (Celesta Hodge) the great niece to one of the wealthiest women in town who has recently passed comes to Connor in the hopes that he can prove that her uncle Forest Worthington (David Price) has hidden the real will so that he would inherit everything. After visiting the mansion and being threatened by Forest and his two henchmen, Peter takes it upon himself with the help of his best friend Madison (Selah Atwood) along with his parrot Peabody (Circus-Szalewski) and Madison's dog, they set out to find the will, but it presents its challenges putting Connor in the line of fire and making getting to the will in time a challenge, but with the help of their animal friends, they will show that when the going gets tough, the tough get ruff.

Two great family films, but only one can be the winner. It was a close one, but one did just make it out on top.
"Turtle Tale" is an amazing film that tackles on some of the challenges of life dealing with life-altering changes, finding who your real friends are and what is most important in life. It's heart-felt moments and relatable characters will make you want to watch this one again and again which earns four G.M.Stars for its delivery of a touching cinematic piece.

⭐⭐⭐⭐

"Paws P.I." is what many would call a "tail-wagging experience". A classic kids movie with talking animals no one ever hears but always have the backs of their friends and family. Along with a little sleuthing and taking down the bad guys in a slapstick comedy style, it gives you laughs and makes you grin from ear to ear. Yet despite its excellent script, it doesn't make it very unique which only ranks it at a three and a half G.M.Star rating.

⭐⭐⭐½

"Turtle Tale" comes out the victor in this "Movie Verses". It was a tough call with such great family films that it made the decision hard. Yet while I have to make a choice, you get the pleasure of getting to enjoy both and pick your favorite.

"The Turtle Tale and Paws P.I. Double Feature" is available at Redbox now and both films can be found separately or together where movies are sold.
