"Mandy The Haunted Doll"

Whether its Annabelle (the real one or the one from the movies) or crazed possessed serial killer doll Chucky, horror fans have been fascinated by the innocence of the childhood toy and the possibility that they can show a dark sinister side. Mandy is the newest to join that category and she's far from a simple play thing.

Amber Ross (Phoebe Torrance) has just been released from prison and wishes to make a fresh start with her life, but when her sister Carly (Amy Burrows) and her boyfriend Neil (Manny Jai Montana) talk her back in to the life of burglary and have a job where she will pose as a baby sitter for a woman's daughter Mandy in an attempt to case the place, she reluctantly agrees hoping it will be last score they will need.
After being given a list of strange instructions such as not to let Mandy cry or go up into the attic and left in charge without ever seeing Mandy, Amber tries to take on the job responsibly in the hope they can just get what they came for and go without anyone getting hurt. Yet when she hears Mandy's voice and goes up to her room it investigate, she soon discovers that Mandy is in fact a doll.
Believing the woman is crazy, she ignores the fact she's been in left in charge of a doll and continues on as planned, until Mandy begins to make herself known and Amber soon realizes she and the others are not alone and that Mandy wants to play with them, forever.

While this is not the most terrifying portrayal of an evil doll made, it had its charm in Mandy's origin story along with where Mandy would pop up next and who she would allow to stay and who had to go, permanently. The darkness of how a haunted object could terrorize people made it a creepy experience, but lacked shocking suspense that could have made it a force to be reckoned with. In short, Mandy only got two and a half G.M.Stars, but don't let it discourage you from experiencing this film for yourself. After all, Mandy is always looking for new playmates.
