"Bent"

When it comes to enforcing the law and fighting crime, there's one thing worse than pursing a cop killer, a cop killer that was once a cop that have gone bad, or the preferred term "Bent" We hear the stories, we see the movies, but when the lines of the right side and the wrong side of the law blur together, it can be hard to tell who's side someone is really on.

Three years ago Danny Gallagher (Karl Urban) was a good cop, but when he and his partner arrive to a boat where they're about to take down a man they've been pursuing called Driscoll (John Finn) Danny and his partner Charlie (Vincent Spano) a good cop with a bad gambling problem find themselves in the line of fire, and when they discover that one of the men they shot was a cop with a wire, things quickly go south and Charlie pays with his life.
Now released, Danny faces having to rebuild his life as a disgraced cop with all police eyes on him waiting for him to screw up. One of his only allies is a retired cop Jimmy Murtha (Andy Garcia) who spent his career fighting corruption, but believes Danny was set up by Driscoll at trial as a bent cop. As Danny awaits Driscoll's parole date, he learns from a friend of Charlie's who called the night he died about his late sister Jennifer Pierce (Cherish Gaines) who died in an unsolved car bombing and believes that she was getting information on her husband's Bill Pierce (Joe Pacheco) illegal line of work.
Setting out to get answers, Danny soon learns that this bombing goes bigger than covering up money laundering when a government agent Rebecca (Sofia Vergara) tries to convince Danny to step back from this case and that Bill Pierce is only a lead to someone bigger. Disregarding her warning, Danny starts to uncover facts that don't add up and questions who to trust as he finds himself becoming a target someone wants eliminated.

I have to say out of many of the movies featuring cops who go outside the law to do the right thing, this one stands out. A man's path that leads him to a fork in the road where he must choose redemption or revenge to take back his life makes this film one to watch. The amount of greed, corruption and betrayal will have your head spinning as to who to trust in the end. A four and a half G.M.Star performance that while at times confusing will become clear in the final act.

⭐⭐⭐⭐½
