"Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri"

Winner of two Academy Awards, this epic film takes you on an emotional journey of a mother's struggle to find justice when everyone else has given up, and the consequences that come with it.

Mildred Hayes (Frances McDormand) is a mother at her wits end when her daughter Angela (brief role by Kathryn Newton) is raped and murdered seven months ago and there have been no arrest or suspects in the case. Desperate for answers, she pays to have three billboards put up on the backroad where Angela was found not far from home to get people's attention in the hopes something will be done. It soon becomes a heated controversial topic amongst the townspeople including the police force led by Chief Willoughby (Woody Harrelson) and his anger-challenged deputy Dixon (Sam Rockwell). Yet despite the harassment and threats, Mildred doesn't give in and is not afraid to get in people's faces about it. Yet as the billboards stand there, the tension builds and it becomes a question as to how far someone is willing to go to stand their ground.

While there has been internet rumors that this film owes it success for taking the idea from "Billboard Dad" when it comes right down to it, there is hardly a comparison. While the billboard idea is similar, the stories could not be more far apart from each other and this film stands in a class of its own. A dramatic emotional tale of one person's search for justice. Frances McDormand's performance as the hardened, cussing, brokenhearted Mildred Hayes was phenomenal and worthy of a Best Actress Award and is matched by the cast of characters including a minor role by "Game of Thrones" actor Peter Dinklage. A five G.M.Star film in my opinion and one award that Frances McDormand won't have stole from her.
