The name of the game is "Hangman"

We all grew up playing the game Hangman, you settle on a word and try to get people to guess the letters to solve it before you finish drawing the stickman hanging, yet when someone decides to make the game real, the rules of guessing before someone hangs no longer apply.

Detective Will Ruiney (Karl Urban), a criminal profiler for one of the busiest police forces is as good as they come and when he is given Christi Davies (Brittany Snow) a investigative reporter to follow him around and get the story on the real life of a police officer, he is reluctant, yet dutifully does it. Yet while investigating a hanging body of a young woman at an elementary school, he soon finds himself as a player in a sadistic game of hangman, and whoever is playing with him has called out his old partner Detective Ray Archer (Al Pacino) who retired a year ago. Following the breadcrumbs that the killer referred to as "Hangman" has left for them they discover he will kill every 24 hours leaving a new letter carved in them unless they get ahead of his time clock and catch him before he can kill again.

While ratings on Rotten Tomatoes has settled on a 3.1/10 review based on 8 critics, I found myself drawn into the story as it played out. Each scene giving you a new piece of the puzzle to complete the whole picture as to the killer's identity and motive in his chain-linked murder spree. It had the elements of suspense and methodical planning done to a T, with a plot twist that may make it a game changer with a possible sequel. Al Pacino delivered on his portrayal of a broken, yet wise detective who still has a desire to help those in need and Brittany Snow has gone from the pretty blonde high school girl that we've seen in "Hairspray" and "The Pacifier" and shown that she can be more than just a pretty face. It won't take a guess that I feel that this deserves 4 G.M.Stars, which if you round it up should give it a favorable review on Rotten Tomatoes now, but don't take just my word for it, follow the game and decide for yourself.
