"Knights of the Damned"

Growing up, we all played games, read stories or saw movies about brave knights fighting and slaying ferocious dragons and other mythical beast in a quest to save the kingdom and gain glory. Yet how many of them have had zombies? I can't think of any I've seen, until now.

For nearly nine months, three knights George (Ben Loyd-Holmes), Richard (Ross O'Hennessy) and Thomas (Silvio Simac) have been on a quest for their king to slay a vicious dragon that has attacked their kingdom along with nine other knights. They have traveled through the twelve other lands slaying beast and have never come up against anything that attacks without reason. With the death of their fourth brother in arms James (Adrian Bouchet) they travel towards home in hopes they will be able to slay the dragon yet, but come to find there is another threat growing in the kingdom at a village bar of creatures that are relentless furious killers they call "Furies".
While back at the castle, Prince Favian (Jon-Paul Gates) and his sister Princess Elizabeth (Rebecca Dyson-Smith) hold down the fort while their father is away tending to their ailing mother, yet it becomes clear that Favian has no concern for the people and is only out for power while being abusive and having a physical interest in Elizabeth who only wishes the safety for her people.
Joined by four warrior women from a neighboring kingdom, the Knights press on soon coming upon a deserted village where they are ambushed by the "Furies" and must get to the castle to safety in the hopes it will not be too late to save the kingdom.

Overall, I am intrigued by the characters of the story from the brotherhood that is shared by the knights, to Elizabeth's bravery and willing to stand strong and fight for her kingdom. Yet the graphics on the dragon were somewhat inferior compared to other CGI dragons. It looks more like a step up from clay animation and scenes that featured some of the beast like the furies or the brief scene with sirens barely showed what they looked like with their quick camera work and editing. It's hard to be fearful of something that moves so fast that you barely know it was there. The only plus side was though they were quick, what little you could see of the Furies was that the make-up techniques gave you the belief that these things were no longer human and should be feared. So I will be quick with my decision and stay at three G.M.Stars. For where it lacks on the details in its monsters it makes up with its colorful characters, its unique antagonist and its well choreographed fight scenes.

*This movie is only the first chapter. The next chapter is "The Dark Kingdom" where the characters will continue their quest to stop this army of the undead and fierce dragon.
