"Aliens Ate My Homework"

From the writings of author Bruce Coville, "Aliens Ate My Homework" is the first of the four part series "Rod Albright's Alien Adventures" to be brought to life. Originally published in 1993, it has been updated for a new generation of young science fiction fans.

Rod Albright (Jayden Greig) has a very loving family and shares a love for science fiction and aliens with his father Art Albright (Sandy Robson) until one night he suddenly has to leave and promises Rod he will be back. Now three years later, Rod's father has not returned yet his family including his wife Gwen (Kirsten Robeck) and the twins Eric and Linda (Christian Convery and Carmela Nossa Guizzo) believe that he didn't lie about returning and will someday. Yet while they wait for that day Rod goes on with his life dealing with friends like Mickey (Sean Quan) a budding chemist and bullies like Billy Becker (Ty Consiglio) who loves to squish insects on Rod's head as his form of torment. As if life couldn't get more complicated three events happen, first snow that only seems to come down over his school, his cousin Elspeth McMasters (Lauren McNamara) coming to stay with them who Rod doesn't get along with and while babysitting his brother and sister while working on his science project, a small alien spacecraft crash lands right in his room.

Aboard the ship are the members of the Galactic Patrol ship Ferkel, dedicated to keeping peace throughout the galaxy and request Rod to assist them so that they may repair their ship. Yet while they do so, Elspeth stumbles onto the secret and he now must take her into their trust in order to aid them. It's soon discovered an essential part is missing that without it the crew and the ship cannot make themselves their normal size and are stuck as the size of action figures and to make matters worse, the cousins learn of a space criminal called B'KR that is hiding out on Earth and threatens to destroy all life as they know it. It's up to the two to find a way to work together in order to save Earth and the Galaxy before B'KR can execute his plan.

While this film might not make any fan favorites with the hardcore sci-fi lovers out there, this is a great family film for those who do like comedic space alien films and a perfect family movie night flick. It even has William Shatner adding his voice to one of the alien characters and an on screen appearance by author Bruce Coville. It's ideal for kids because it teaches lessons about teamwork and bravery. One that reaches for three G.M.Stars and beyond.

*Spoiler: Stay tuned during the credits for another clip featuring Bruce Coville and a possible teaser.
