Experiencing "9/11"

For many under the age of twenty-five, it's hard to remember that day since it was so confusing not fully understanding what was happening and why, but for those like me who were old enough to remember life before 9/ll and understand what happened and see how much everything changed overnight, it still can shake us even now.

This story follows the events through the lives of five people who become stuck inside an elevator between the 37th and 38th floor in the North Tower just as the first plane hits. Jeffery Cage and his wife Eve, (Charlie Sheen and Gina Gershon), a maintenance worker Eddie (Luiz Guzman), a bike messenger Michael (Wood Harris) and a young single woman Tina (Olga Fonda). As the five try to figure out what's going on outside and how they will get out before the cable snaps, they must rely on each other and an elevator monitor (Whoopi Goldberg) who is only able to speak to them through an intercom as the events unfold. As the second plane hits, it soon becomes clear that help will not come in time and that they wish to survive, they have to free themselves before it's too late.

Seeing this movie play out and how the characters realization of what was happening and how the world seemed to stand still brought a lot of emotion flooding back remembering how in the dark we all were and how it changed us because you saw how it changed them. Seeing the events play out until the final moment I can only describe as riveting and kept you on the edge of your seat. It's difficult to tell a story such as this, but this was done with grace while capturing the realism of the fear and confusion that took place. For such a performance, I give five G.M.Stars, each well deserved and rightfully earned.
