"Alien Domicile" verses "Beyond Skyline"

Recently, I did a post on another Science Fiction movie "Revolt" and was pleased with what it had to show, yet just recently I noticed two films about alien invasions at the box and rather try to write multiple post of the same movie genre, I decided to put them head to head to see who would come out on top for the most Green Mountain Stars (G.M.Stars).

Up first is "Alien Domicile". In the film, Hanna (Elly Brown) is a D.O.D. who wakes to find herself in a lower level room of a base in Nevada (believed to be Area 51) with no memory as to how she got there and with three other strangers, Lt. Gail Sullivan (Sabrina Cofield) of the U.S. Air Force, Dimitri (Eduard Osipov) a technician, and Russell Turner (Michael Monterio) a Government worker who all seem to be suffering a lapse of time and memory. Unbeknownst to them, a special forces team led by M.S. Ryan Pierce (Michael A. Tushaus) to take out an unknown enemy. When the two collide, it becomes clear they are up against something not of this world and that their only chance of escape lies in the tunnels below, but getting to them unseen will not be their only challenge as they face another potential threat, each other.

"Beyond Skyline" has a different story to tell. Mark (Frank Grillo), a Los Angeles detective finds himself stepping up when an alien ship invades Earth and draws people towards it's strange eerie light before abducting them, including his son Trent (Jonny Weston) and his girlfriend Audrey (Bojana Novakovic). Once aboard, he finds himself in a horror show of people having their brains extracted to power robotic slaves and far more worse things to give you nightmares. During the chaos, the ship is brought down in the jungles of Asia where he gains the help of rebel fighters/brother and sister Sua and Kanya (Iko Uwais and Pamelyn Chee) in an effort to bring down the alien invader and its army and give humanity a fighting chance.

Usually I find that with little publicized films that you'll usually come out pretty average from the next one, in this case however, it was no contest. "Alien Domicile" had a lack of imagination and too many holes in its story. At no point does it give any indication as to how everyone came to be there nor does it make clear how the base became infested with an alien invader. The alien doesn't look like either ones on the cover. Its flashbacks are limited mainly to Hanna the main character leaving the others in the dark and the story drags on before you even see anything remotely scary and it's mild at best. I'm sad to say this looks like it could have been shot in a week's time in a warehouse. Therefore, I feel it only deserves one G.M.Star

This cannot be said for "Beyond Skyline". This was more like, "Beyond Awesome". This film had everything you wanted out of a Alien Sci-Fi movie. Hostile alien leader with an army of robotic slaves, alien abduction, daring rescues, tear jerking emotional moments, fighting against all odds with all the human spirit has to offer and surprises that will give humanity a major game changer. Only one other alien invasion film that comes to mind had all these and more, "Independence Day". While it didn't get the blockbuster treatment like I.D. did, it will get better treatment from me. I'm going to award it five G.M.Stars for all it has to offer.
